Living By Grace Update
Ken Langster, layman of Heber Springs, Arkansas, is a Gideon. Since 1978 Ken has averaged more than one trip a year to New York City with the Gideons to distribute Bibles. This year’s distribution campaign was scheduled to begin less than a week following the tragedy of September 11. Because he had taken 100 books distributed by our corporation, he called with a report of the event. Like everyone else, Ken reported of a new spirit of love and receptivity on the part of the people of New York. Ken said that his group distributed 385,000 Bibles and New Testaments. Ken’s assignment was in a hospital. Even though the hospital was not receiving those injured in the bombing, doctors, nurses, hospital personnel, and patients joyfully reached for the Bibles and New Testaments. We can praise the Lord that He had the Bible distribution planned for that particular time. We praise Him for the way He uses the Gideons. We can pray that He will use the Scriptures distributed to bring many to Christ. Ken also distributed the 100 books teaching the message of living by God’s grace—which were also were joyfully received. He gave one to a native of Afghanistan who is pastor of a Christian church in New York.
